Biography
Mustafa Ali Mohd is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. He is also Fellow of the Malaysian Academy of Science. His research areas comprise of Endocrine disrupters research, clinical pharmacology, drugs of abuse, traditional medicine, Medicinal chemistry, Environmental toxicants and pollutants, xenobiotics and toxicology. He has vast experience in various fields especially Chromatography and spectrometry. He is member of Editorial board of many scientific journals and served as expert committee for several bodies in food safety and quality, including several expert panel member for WHO. He served as expert panel member in the WHO food safety and toxicology evaluation committee, for melamine and bisphenol A. He acts as Deputy Dean Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya and currently Deputy Director of University Malaya Medical Centre and Head of Shimadzu-UMMC Centre for Xenobiotics Study (SUCXeS). At International level, he is known for his contributions in Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) research and on monitoring of EDC in Malaysia. He coordinates several international projects on analytical techniques such as GCMS and LCMS, and acts as the National project coordinator for the United Nations University Environmental Monitoring programme in East Asia region: Environmental governance and Technology transfer, since 1999. He has been training personnel from government institutions in several countries on analytical techniques under the United-Nations-University-program. He has supervised 26 masters and 17 PhD students in various fields of studies and has published more than 40 books in various fields, than 100 International papers in various International scientific journals with a WOS H-index of 21. He is the Editorial Board Member of various scientific journals and is reviewer for numerous international journals. In 2005, he was awarded the Excellent Scientist Award by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, and in 2012, He was awarded the Top Research Scientist Malaysia 2012 by the Malaysian Academy of Science.
