Biography
Dr. Ray Ikechukwu Jacob is a research fellow at the Africa-Asia Development University Network (AADUN) since June 2015. His major assignment includes developing an African Studies program at the University of Malaya, apart from engaging in activities to promote African studies. He received his doctorate in Social-Anthropology (Social Sciences) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2013. His research interest clusters on development issues related to ethnicity, identity, gender, counselling, strategic and security studies and conflict management. His research works have seen print in both local and international journals such as the Asian Social Science and Geografia. In line with his involvement in academia, he has also presented at International Conferences. He was previously affiliated with UKM as a Researcher at the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA). His previous positions at UKM also include the following: Research Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant and Conference Secretary for several activities, including a jointly hosted conference between the Center for American Studies (KAMERA) and the Malaysian Association for American Studies (MAAS). More importantly, he held the post of Coordinator of the African Studies Unit at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He has also held some teaching appointments, namely as Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UKM, and Students’ Counsellor at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
