Biography
Associate Prof. Dr. Rozita Binti Yusoff working in Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA. Dr. Rozita Yusoff is currently the Deputy Director, University of Malaya Curriculum Development Center (UMCDC) and Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya. Prior to that, she was the Head of Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She obtained her first degree in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Nova Scotia, Canada (1992). Both her Master degree (1996) and PhD Degree (2005) were obtained from UMIST, United Kingdom. She started working in University Malaya as a tutor in 1992, and then was appointed to lecturer in 1996 after completing her Master degree. She is an established academician who has more than 15 years teaching experience. Her research interest are mainly in the area of separation processes (microwave-assisted extraction of active ingredient from herbal plant, CO2 absorption by alkanolamines and ionic liquids), advanced material processing using microwave heating and cleaner production/technology. She has to-date published more than 50 papers in journals and conference proceedings both locally and internationally. Five PhD and 4 Master students had completed their degrees under her supervision and currently she is supervising eight PhD students and 3 Master students. Dr Rozita is also involved in a number of consultancy projects, especially in the area of cleaner production. On the administrative matters, Dr Rozita was the department OBE/EAC/MQA coordinator from 2005 to 2011. She was involved in restructuring the Chemical Engineering Programme according to OBE approach. She was also responsible to conduct various workshops to the staff on the OBE systems and accreditation.
