Biography
Dr. Yeong is a medical physicist and senior lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Yeong obtained her PhD with Distinction from the University of Malaya in 2012. She is the current Secretary General of Medical Physics Subgroup in Malaysia, as well as a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP). She is also one of the founding committee of the ASEAN College of Medical Physics (ACOMP), established in Nov 2014. Dr. Yeong has published extensively in several academic journals, proceedings, academic book and book chapters. Her research areas focus on theranostics (therapy + diagnostic), targeted radionuclide therapy, shear wave elastography, image-guided minimally invasive cancer therapy, as well as oral drug delivery using biomedical imaging techniques. Her researches have won several local and international awards including the Certificate of Merit awarded by the European Society of Radiology, 2012. Dr. Yeong currently has 2 patents registered to her name. Besides research and teaching, Dr. Yeong also involves in several administrative activities. She is the Assistant Managing Editor for an open-access journal Biomedical Imaging and Intervention Journal (BIIJ), Scientific Committee member of the University of Malaya Research Imaging Centre (UMRIC) and recently she is appointed to be the Manager for the micro CT facilities at the Central Unit for Advanced Research Imaging (CENTUARI), University of Malaya. She was the Project Manager in a remote medical physics educational program organized by Dr. Milton Woo from the University of Sunnybrook, Toronto. Dr. Yeong also involved in a consultancy project for the Ministry of Health, Malaysia in the National Medical Radiation Dose Survey project organized by the United Nations Scientific Committee on Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) 2005-2010.
