Biography
He studied at the Faculty of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) the career of Civil Engineering, where he also taught algebra and linear programming. He is 77 years old. Founder and Honorary Life Chairman of Grupo Carso and Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex), America Movil and Grupo Financiero Inbursa, founder and Chairman of the Board of Inversora Bursatil. He has served as Vice-President of the Mexican Stock Exchange and President of the Mexican Association of Brokerage Firms. He was the first President of the Latin American Committee of the Board of the NYSE. Member of the Board of Directors of Philip Morris Companies and Alcatel, he also served as Director of SBC Communications, Inc. He was creator of the Foundation of the Historic Center of Mexico City, A.C., and serves as Chairman of the Executive Commitee for its restoration. As part of his philantrophic work, chairs the Project for the Fund of Latin America and the Telmex Foundation. He has lectures at public and private institutions and international organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA), among others.
