Biography

Nicholas Ensley Mitchell is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in history from Louisiana State University. In 2016, he received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University where he worked with the curriculum theory project on topics such as black male educational achievement, the school to prison pipeline, and social justice education. Over the last 9 years, he has served as a teacher in both the public and private school systems, in the community college system, and at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is a trained community organizer. He became a fellow at the JSRI, effective August 2016, with a special focus on race and racism.
