Dr. Roberto Martínez
Researcher / Head of the Academic Affairs Office
Department of Organic Chemistry
National Autonomous University of Mexico
Dr. Martinez obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry and in 1977 his MSc in Organic Chemistry, both from the School of Chemistry, National University of Mexico, he then joined the Institute of Chemistry as Researcher. He obtained a PhD in Organic Chemistry by the Center of Research and Advanced Studies, National Polytechnic Institute. At present he is Full Researcher and member of the National Research System with the maximum level. he honored with National Chemistry Prize "Andrés Manuel del Río" 2011, awarded by the Chemical Society of Mexico. Member of: the Mexican Academy of Sciences (1987), International Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry (1993), American Chemical Society (1996), Sigma (2004). Founder and president of the Mexican Academy of Organic Chemistry (2004-2011).
His current research interest is focused on the synthesis of new organic compounds, using as principle molecular modifications of leading molecules and the evaluation of their cytotoxic activity in five cellular lines.
