Biography

Dr. Veikko Uahengo is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Faculty of Science , , Namibia. His research interests includes Chemosensors: Chemosensors is a major component of Supramolecular Chemistry which is based on molecular recognition. Chemosensors are simple inorganic or organic entities easily synthesized which are used to discriminate ionic species in aqueous and organic mediums by means of displaying changes in absorption spectra and more importantly naked eye observation of colorimetric activities. Chemosensors are fast becoming very popular and powerful analytical tools replacing the high cost traditional tools such as inductive coupled plasma (ICP) etc. The sensitivity and selectivity of a specific sensor towards a specific anion or cation is based on the geometry and topology of the sensor, which in turn depends on the choice of the designer. Solar materials: Research focus is on new solar materials (dye sensitized cells). This area is mainly focused on new solar materials (3rd generation) using simple and affordable classical syntheses mechanisms of organic and inorganic entities. Currently, this research area is dominating major research establishments around the world in order to meet high energy demand for the 21st century. Li-ion cathode materials: Lithium ion battery cathode materials. Li-ion cathode materials are currently leading research activities around the world in the quest of solving energy storage problem.. He /she is serving as an editorial member and reviewer of several international reputed journals. Dr. Veikko Uahengo is the member of many international affiliations. He/ She has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities.
