Bibhav Acharya

Biography

Bibhav Acharya is a Mental Health Advisor at Possible. He is currently a research resident psychiatrist at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His research focuses on improving competencies in mental health among primary care providers in low- and middle-income countries. He is the co-founder of Shared Minds (www.sharedminds.org), which provides culturally-appropriate, evidence-based clinical training to address gaps in health delivery in Nepal. He joined the Board of Directors of Possible in 2007 and has been serving as Possible’s Mental Health Services adviser since 2013. Bibhav was born and raised in Nepal and arrived in the United States to attend Haverford College, where he graduated with Honors in Chemistry. He was a Howard Hughes Science and Society Scholar in public health and has worked at New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute to improve the quality of care for federally-funded HIV services. Prior to his residency, Bibhav completed his M.D. at Yale University School of Medicine.
