Biography
Prof. Dr. Mat J. A. P. Daemen serves as Scientific Advisor of ACS Biomarker B.V. In 2006, Prof. Dr. Daemen was Program Director of the VIIth International Vascular Biology Meeting in the Netherlands and became Scientific Director of CARIM, the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht. He is one of the founding fathers of the Center for Translational Molecular Medicine and is a member of the scientific committee of the High Risk Plaque consortium, an international public private initiative. He is one of the co-founders of the Dutch Atherosclerosis Society and an expert in the molecular regulation of plaque (in)stability. He is co- spokesman of the established international graduate school EUCAR, a collaboration with the cardiovascular research Institute IMCAR in Aachen. He became President Elect of the Dutch Society of Pathologists in 2008. His main research topic is the molecular regulation of atherosclerotic plaque (in)stability. He has published more than 175 scientific publications and supervised more than 30 PhD theses. Prof. Dr. Daemen received his PhD in Pharmacology in 1987 and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the dept of Pathology, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA. He became a Certified Pathologist/Staff Member at the dept. of Pathology at the University of Maastricht, Professor of Pathology in 1997 and Chairman of The Department in 2001.

Prof. Dr. Mat J. A. P. Daemen has research interest in EXOSOME EXTRACTION, RNA EXTRACTION, CARDIO-ONCO BIOMARKERS, RNA PROFILING, PROTEIN BIOMARKERS, qPCR ANALYSIS.
