Biography
Prof. Dr. Yigal M. Pinto serves as Chief Scientific Officer of Mirnext B.V. and ACS Biomarker B.V. Prof. Dr. Pinto received training in molecular genetics during fellowships at Harvard Medical School, Boston USA and at the Free University Berlin and the Max Delbruck Centre in Berlin. He obtained his PhD in 1995 on a thesis titled: "Chronically activated tissue rennin-angiotensin systems impair cardiac function". He guides clinical and experimental studies to elucidate molecular-genetic mechanisms in heart failure. From 2001 to 2007, he was staff cardiologist at the University of Maastricht and in 2005 he was appointed as Full Professor of Cardiology. In 2008, he moved to the AMC in Amsterdam to become the scientific director of the Heart Center. Prof. Dr. Pinto was trained at the University of Groningen where he obtained his MD and PhD degree and specialized in Cardiology.
