Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where did you grow up? I was born in Del Rio, Texas and grew up in San Antonio. My father was in the military and we moved around every three to four years. Our travels took us to Nevada, Arizona, and Texas (twice). I come from a close-knit family that is largely spread throughout Arizona, Texas, and Pennsylvania. I’ve grown roots in the Old Pueblo, a neighborhood of Tucson. What is your educational background? I attended the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to study microbiology. What brought you into your field? As a child, science fascinated me, yet I have always had a penchant for helping and supporting people. Being a part of CBR for eight years has given me the perfect ‘science’ fit, while my current role in human resources is the perfect way for me to give back to my colleagues and our client families. When did you first know that you wanted to work in biotech? While my father was stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, I was a seventh-grade participant in a science and technology camp that was sponsored by the University of Arizona’s College of Science. I remember being most drawn and fascinated with the life sciences and biotechnology activities and booths. Thanks to a couple of great opportunities as an adult, I found myself on the biotech track with a position on the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) team, helping CBR to establish cord tissue banking; and with my laboratory acumen, I was able to contribute to the human resources team as a recruiter. What do you most enjoy about your current job? Interacting with folks from all areas of the business is what I enjoy most about my job. At the end of the day, human resources is about people. Our people are what make CBR/AMAG the best in the world. I have a front-row seat in selecting the best talent for our business, which is what it’s all about. What would you most love to be doing in 10 years? Personally, I’d like to be enjoying quality time with my family, raising kids and traveling the world. Professionally, I’d like to be in a positon where I can contribute and influence positive change and continue supporting people. I wouldn’t mind being on a path to a HR executive-type role. Tell us about some of your interests/hobbies outside of AMAG? I love anything sports related. Whether it’s watching or playing, I’ll try any sport at least once. I enjoy playing racquetball, swimming, and attending sporting events. In particular, rooting for the University of Arizona, cheering on my hometown San Antonio Spurs, and my football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. What’s something most people don’t know about you? I used to be a competitive sharp shooter in high school with the
