Prof. Dr. M. Joannidis

Biography

 Dr. Joannidis is Associate Professor in Medicine and is serving as Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Dept. Internal Medicine I, Medical University Innsbruck, Austria and President of the Austrian Society of Medical and General Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (ÖGIAIN).  He is a certified specialist in Critical Care Medicine, Nephrology and Cardiology. His research interests cover several topics of Critical Care Medicine with a major focus on Acute Kidney Injury, renal tubular epithelial pathophysiology, renal replacement therapy and sepsis. Currently, he serves as Chair of the section Acute Kidney Injury of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) and as associate editor of Intensive Care Medicine.
