Gerry Montanus

Biography

  Gerry is an Advisor to Anterra Capital.  Formerly a Senior Partner at Atlas Venture, he has over 27 years' experience investing in early stage technology companies. Gerry began his career at ING (formally NMB), based in Amsterdam, where he focused on providing financial services to medium- and large-sized companies. Later he joined the venture capital group within the bank and was part of the team which spun off from the bank to start Atlas Venture. Following this, Gerry was responsible for founding and managing the Atlas Venture London office, where he has spent the majority of his venture capital career. Gerry has also spent considerable time in China where he was responsible for pioneering investment activities for Atlas. While at Atlas Venture, Gerry held Board memberships in many of Atlas Ventures' portfolio companies including eDreams (sold to TA associates), Aethos Communications Systems (acquired by LogicaCMG), Danionics (listed on the Copenhagen exchange), Element 14 (acquired by Broadcom), Orchestream (listed on the London stock exchange), Prolin (acquired by Hewlett-Packard) and Uniface (sold to Compuware). Gerry studied business administration and completed the Harvard University Business Case Study Program. Gerry has been on the executive board of the European Venture Capital Association. Gerry currently lives in Asia and commutes on a regular basis between Europe and Asia.
