Biography
Bas studied Biology at Leiden University, majoring in Biochemistry. He specialised in molecular genetics. During the course of his studies, Bas became involved in the organisation of a jobs market, where he met Erna Barèl. During an internship, he became acquainted with and learned the DNA sequencing technology. A second internship at TNO with a strong focus on commercial applications, gave Bas and Erna the idea to start their own company offering DNA sequencing services.
