Biography
Barros, E.G. Dias de is a PhD Candidate at Petroleum Engineering, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. His current research focuses on possible approaches to incorporate the value of information in the closed-loop reservoir management framework. In a typical closed-loop workflow the production optimization step is executed separately from the data assimilation step, which aims to obtain a better model description of the reservoir by incorporating information from measurements. It has been recognized that choosing where and when to obtain measurements could be crucial to improve the models. The decision to obtain measurements is taken based on a cost-benefit analysis in which the value of information needs to be quantified. I am developing a workflow that includes both production strategy and model updating to quantify the value of information.
