Biography
I was appointed to the Van Eesteren chair in 2013. Our focus is on ‘urban planning in relation to the physical conditions of the Dutch delta landscape’. These issues are closely related. In my research practice I have experienced this personally through projects such as IJburg in Amsterdam, and more recently in the American cities of New Orleans and New York. Our research area is the IJsselmeer region, an area in which the Dutch architect and urban planner Cornelis van Eesteren was intensely involved during his life.
