Biography
Femke is Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering. In her research, she combines numerical models with data, a technique known as data assimilation. With a background that spans from research in physical oceanography to project management in the oil- and gas industry, her current research focuses on the use of data assimilation for monitoring surface movements. Applications include subsidence as a result of hydrocarbon production, surface uplift related to gas injection, and fault reactivation associated with differential compaction. "
Research Interest
Data assimilation, in particular Monte Carlo-based methods such as particle filtering Reservoir monitoring and characterisation"
