Biography
"Helena is a PhD student in the section Applied Geology at Delft University of Technology. Her current research, “Implementation of numerical outcrops to improve geological fluvio-deltaic reservoir modelsâ€, started in 2013. In addition to her research she is a member of various academic and industry associations and is currently the Secretary of the AAPG Delft Student Chapter. Prior to this research, Helena worked as a technology and innovation consultant in the fields of water, energy, clean technology and communication technologies. Her academic background is in Applied Mathematics and in particular computational modelling. She obtained an MPhil in Earth Science from the University of Cambridge with research focussing on earth system modelling and the global carbon cycle. She also obtained an MSc in Computational Biomechanics (Cum Laude) from the University of Cape Town for a dissertation entitled “Development of a Numerical Tool for the Optimisation of Vascular Prosthesis towards Physiological Compliance"
