Biography
Nick van de Berg received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008, his M.Sc. degree in BioMedical Engineering in 2011, and his Ph.D. degree in 2016 at the Delft University of Technology. During his Ph.D., Nick developed a steerable needle for use in the diagnosis and treatment of deep seated tissue structures. Currently, Nick is working on a post-doc during which this type of needles is being evaluated in a (pre-)clinical setting, under 3D ultrasound guidance. His research interests include the development of diagnostic and therapeutic instruments and the study of their mechanical (but also electrical / thermal / chemical) interactions with tissue.
