Biography

Education From 2001 to 2007, Ms. Maru studied dentistry at the University of Constanţa in Romania. From 2008 she practices her profession as a dentist (general practitioner). Mrs. Maru was able to start her career as a dentist and subsequently followed a number of dental training courses, including Evidence Based dentistry, at ACTA (2010). Practical experience: After my studies I went directly to the Netherlands and I was able to start working at Dentalzorg right away. I have been working here for about 7 years now. I immediately started with language courses so that I could quickly master the Dutch language. Fortunately, I was able to finish my exam for the nt2 diploma at the University of Amsterdam. Why did you want to be a dentist? Actually, that happened a bit coincidentally, although as a child I already had a lot of interest in Dentistry. I was interested in anatomy and care for the human body and mind. I love people, they want to understand and help from a medical point of view. After primary school, I ended up in a high school where a lot of art was taught and I was also very interested in that. Yet I did not know what I wanted to be at the time, although most of my fellow students started a dentistry study. I then spoke to one of those former pupils and then suddenly I knew, I want to do that too. And that was a good decision afterwards, so I'm really happy that I finally became a dentist. Which (basic) criteria do you think a good dentist should meet? A dentist must first understand a patient well. Honest and treat with respect and responsibility and good communication is therefore very important. Treat correctly, in a practical but also a human sense. What do you personally think of Dental Care as a dentist? For example: How would you describe the benefits of being a client at Dental Care? Here is the beginning of my career, a nice place to work and gain experience. I started here so I have created a good relationship with many patients. My work gives stability and peace in my life. The atmosphere here is very nice, and I have a lot of nice colleagues and the management is very helpful. They are also very sympathetic people, they have taught me a lot, not only about dentistry but also in learning the Dutch language they have stimulated me well. Of course, you have to refer clients to colleagues and / or other specializations. Will you then see yourself as ultimately responsible, as the first 'lock' in the entire dental process? Yes, I am the first person to see the patient. It is therefore of the utmost importance to check carefully and be alert to any other possible treatments. I want to keep track of the possible route that comes up and see the result of what that specialist has done. Why would clients choose you as a dentist? What distinguishes you from the others in that respect? Do you have a special specialty, or several? The patients feel very comfortable with me, I treat them with care and love and as I said before, honesty. The patients feel that. I have learned here to assess people faster, about what they want, who they are and how they are. Every person and therefore also a patient is different. You have to be able to anticipate and that means listening and responding well. I always ask directly what the wishes of a client are and then tell me what is possible and what is not based on my research. Tell something about yourself. For example about your character, family, friends, hobbies. For me, family is the most important and all people in my area. I love nature and healthy living. In that context I practice sports yoga and mountaineering. And I still like to paint, abstract and modern. I have left that to the intensive art education in high school. Do you have any further ambitions, for example a further specialization (or maybe ever a different profession)? I now have no special ambition with regard to my profession. However, I am regularly working on courses and courses in dentistry. I am registered for the Quality Practice at the Academic Center for Dentistry in Amsterdam to keep my knowledge up to date and furthermore I have followed a specialization course in Radiology at the ACTA. My only ambition is to enjoy this life as much as possible and to be happy with myself and with others. My private ambition is that I want to start a family.
