Biography
Janet Ross qualified in 1982 from Guy’s Hospital Medical School. After 5 years of general medicine and having obtained higher exams in medicine, MRCP and Child Health, DCH she took up the study of dermatology. She trained for four years at The Institute of Dermatology, St Thomas’s Hospital where she undertook basic research into the mechanism of inflammation. She spent a further four years training at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital gaining expertise in vulval dermatology and furthering her knowledge in Paediatric Dermatology. Throughout her training she pursued her interest in skin surgery and was attached to the dermatology surgical training program at Maastricht University Hospital in Holland. In 1995 Dr Janet Ross was appointed Consultant Dermatologist at Lewisham University Hospital and Honorary Consultant to The Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s Hospital where she works within The Skin Tumour and Laser Surgical Group. She has been Lead Clinician at Lewisham, examiner to MSc students at The Institute of Dermatology and Treasurer of The St John’s Dermatological Society and also European Society of Contact Dermatitis.
