Biography
Arnim Scheidel received his PhD in Environmental Sciences (2013) from the Institute of Environmental Studies and Technology (ICTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain. He comes from an interdisciplinary background, with a Master's degree in Social and Human Ecology (2009) and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (2007). His current research fields include Rural Studies, Ecological Economics and Environmental Conflicts, with a particular focus on the Political Ecology of Development in Southeast Asia and Europe. In his capacity as a postdoctoral fellow, Arnim works within ISS' Political Economy of Resources, Environment and Population (PER) research group. He also contributes to the MOSAIC research initiative by investigating the intersections of climate change, land-based mitigation policies and land grabbing in Cambodia.
