Biography

Irene van Staveren (1963) is professor of pluralist development economics at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Professor Van Staveren's field of research included feminist economics, heterodox economics, pluralist economics and social economics. Specificaly, her field of expertises lie in ethics and economic philosophy. She is head of the PhD programme and project leader of the online database Indices of Social Development. In addition, Van Staveren is a member of the think tank Sustainable Finance Lab and she is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Economic Issues, Review of Social Economy, and Feminist Economics. She published in 2015 a pluralist economics textbook with Routledge, titled Economcis after the Crisis - an introduction to economics from a pluralist and global perspective.
