Biography

Martin Hoogendoorn is professor in Financial Accounting at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and partner at Ernst & Young Accountants. At the Erasmus University he teaches in the postgraduate studies of Chartered Auditor (Registeraccountant) and Chartered Controller (Registercontroller). He has written numerous articles and books. He is also judge at the Business Court in Amsterdam, chairman of the editorial board of 'Maandblad voor Accountancy en Bedrijfseconomie' and Vice-President Practice of the International Association of Acounting Education and Research (IAAER). At Ernst & Young he works for the accounting and financial reporting section of the Technical Department. He is directly involved in applying local and international accounting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Until 1 january 2007 he was chairman of the Dutch Accounting Standards Board (Raad voor de Jaarverslaggeving).
