Biography

Shuka's PhD research focuses on analyzing Social Protection in Ethiopia by specially focusing the Productive Safety Net Program and the Community-Based Health Insurance Scheme. Joint impacts on health and productivity, community participation in program cycle, quality of infrastructures and interlinkages between the two programs are part of the main areas of the research scrutiny. Her research interests are microeconomics, sustainable food security and agricultural development, community-based development, impact evaluation of social protection programs and policies. She has field level research experience on coordinating rural development projects, programs on women's economic empowerment and their protection against harmful practices, early warning and humanitarian emergency relief interventions and quantitiative and qualitative data collection.
