Hilde Van Der Schaar

Biography

Hilde studied Pharmacy at the University of Groningen, where she also obtained her PhD degree in molecular virology. As a PhD student, she characterized how dengue virus particles enter their host cell to start an infection. Fascinated by virology, she subsequently became a postdoc and studied how enteroviruses exploit host cells to multiply themselves, first at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and later at the University of Utrecht. Eager to translate her knowledge into applied science, Hilde joined GenDx in 2017 as a Project Manager within the R&D team. She now applies her scientific background to develop and further improve GenDx products to contribute to transplantation diagnostics.
