Biography
Historian, engaged on regional history and castellology. Doing a PhD on the motte-and-bailey castles in the former Duchy of Brabant (NL/B). Based on a comprehensive inventory of the existing and disappeared motte sites the phenomenon will be placed in the general context of castle typology and early castle building in Western Europe as well. The historical dimension will concentrate on the elite families involved and their role in the building process of the duchy (c 1000 – 1250).
