Biography
Education: 2009 – 2014 PhD in Archaeology, Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge, UK 2008 – 2009 MPhil in World Archaeology, Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge, UK 2005 – 2008 BA in History and Archaeology, Faculty of History and Philosophy, archaeology specialization, BabeÅŸ-Bolyai University, Romania Following the completion of his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2014, Catalin was awarded a Dahlem Research School Postdoctoral Fellowship, as part of the Excellence Cluster TOPOI, at the Freie Universität Berlin. Between 2014 and 2016 he conducted his research in Berlin on the relationship between humans and environment.
Research Interest
Catalin Popa is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Archaeology. His main research focusses on landscape perception, statistical modelling, past and present identity and ethnicity, as well as the relationship between archaeology and nationalism. Much of his research has been connected with the Iron Age of Europe, particularly the area of the Northern Balkans.
