Biography
Hannes holds joint positions as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University and the University of Copenhagen. He obtained his MSc (2004) and his DPhil (2009) in Archeology from the University of Oxford. His research interests focus mainly on the field of ancient DNA but he also has a long-standing interest in Caribbean archeology and the archeology of the African Diaspora.
Research Interest
Since 1 September 2013, Hannes is working as a senior researcher on the ERC-funded Synergy project NEXUS1492. Within NEXUS1492, his research focuses on the use of ancient DNA analyses to study changing population dynamics in the Caribbean across the historical divide and the impact of European colonization on indigenous populations from a genetic perspective.
