Biography
Hayley L. Mickleburgh is a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University. She holds a BA and MA (hons.) in Archaeology (2005, 2007), and a PhD in Archaeology from Leiden University (2013). Her main research interests are bioarchaeology, funerary archaeology and archaeothanatology, and Caribbean archaeology.
Research Interest
Hayley’s PhD research project was funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) within their ‘Toptalent’ program for ‘young creative talent’. For her PhD dissertation Reading the Dental Record. A Dental Anthropological approach to foodways, health and disease, and crafting in the pre-Columbian Caribbean she studied patterns of human dental wear and pathology in pre-colonial circum-Caribbean skeletal remains, in order to investigate foodways, health and disease, and craft activities.
