Biography
Prof. Jan Verhoef, Ph.D serves as an Advisor at Life Sciences Partners BV. Prof. Verhoef is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Bacteriology at the Free University of Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht. Prof. Verhoef was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and Professor of Clinical Microbiology at the University of Utrecht. Prof. Verhoef is the Chairman of the Eijkman-Winkler Institute of Medical and Clinical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Inflammation at the University Medical Centre Utrecht and Co-ordinator of the European Network of Antimicrobial Resistance and Epidemiology (ENARE) Study. He served as a Visiting Professor of Medicine at Stanford University Medical Centre and Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute. He serves as the Chairman of the World Healthcare Forum. Prof. Verhoef served as the Chairman and Member of Scientific Advisory Board of AM-Pharma B.V. He serves as a Member of the Board of Scientific Advisors of MICREOS BV. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Ipsat Therapies Oy. He served as the President of the ESCMID and served as President of the International Immunocompromised Host Society and the Dutch Society for Microbiology. Prof. Verhoef served as a Member of the Governmental Advisory Board for the Registration of Drugs at Royal Decree for seven years. Prof. Verhoef co-authored more than 500 scientific publications, journals and books, and is also a member of the editorial boards of a number of medical journals. He is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, the American Society for Microbiology, and the European Society for Clinical Microbiology Infectious Diseases. Prof. Verhoef is Honorary Member of both the Spanish Society of Medical Microbiology and the Slovak Society of Chemotherapy. Prof. Verhoef received a Ph.D. in Microbiology and graduated from Utrecht University. He completed postgraduate training at the University of Minnesota, and at the Public Health Laboratory in Manchester, UK.
