Biography
Allynne Tosca Owens is a lecturer, teaching American Government, Global Issues, Urban Politics and other political science classes. She has approximately twenty years of teaching experience at Savannah State University primarily as an adjunct professor. Professor Owens has also taught Humanities courses at the University of Phoenix-Savannah Campus. She is a native Savannahian and (1978) cum laude graduate of Savannah State (College) University. While attending Savannah State, she was chief justice of the Student Judiciary, senior editor of the Tiger’s Roar, president of the Criminal Justice Association, was listed in Who’s Who Among American College & University Students, and Woman of the Year. Her graduate studies were at the University of Florida where she was a graduate fellow, graduate assistant, and received a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning (1986). Professor Owens’ graduate thesis on historic preservation in minority neighborhoods was cited in the article, Revitalizing the Urban South, in the Winter 1991 issue of the Journal of the American Planning Association.
