Biography
Dr. Bruce Mallard is a native of Tennessee and holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science, has master's degree in public administration and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Political Science. He is a career educator having taught or been an administrator at universities in Tennessee, Nebraska and Georgia. He teaches undergraduate courses in political science, specializing in subjects related to American Government like the presidency, the congress, political parties and voting behavior and the overview of American and Georgia government. He also teaches graduate courses in the SSU Master of Public Administration program in the area of information resource management and state and local government. For many years he has been an election consultant to the media working primarily on election night tabulating and analyzing election returns currently in six states.
Research Interest
His most recent research was as a contributor of a chapter in a book published by Purdue University press on Southern newspaper editors in the Civil War. His chapter was on James Roddy Sneed, editor of the "Savannah Republican" during and after the war.
