Marion Bell

Biography

My introduction to politics came about at a young age in the form of labor union elections. Tension around the house grew as elections neared, and the home phone rang often throughout the cycle. My father, a member of International Longshoremen's Association Local 1475, is the reason I've dedicated my career to learning, writing, researching, and teaching about politics, specifically campaigns and elections. I graduated in 2008 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Two years later I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Master of Arts in Social Science. After graduate school, I taught economics and mentored troubled youth at a boys home for three years. I was hired by Savannah State as an adjunct faculty member in January of 2014. In August of 2014 I became a full time temporary professor in The Department of Political Science and Public Affairs at Savannah State University. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy from Walden University. In my free time I enjoy boating, traveling, and watching basketball.

Research Interest

My specific interest in politics is that of campaigns and elections in the southern portion of the United States.
