Dr. K. (nadia) Banteka

Biography

Dr. Nadia Banteka is an Assistant Professor in International Law at the International Victimology Institute Tilburg (INTERVICT), Tilburg Law School. Nadia conducts research and teaches in the areas of public international law, international criminal law, and victimology. Nadia also has a distinct interest in international law issues concerning Greece. Nadia's research is interdisciplinary in an attempt to gain further and different insight into international law phenomena and international criminal justice. Nadia draws on several disciplines including international law, international relations, legal and political philosophy, victimology, and social network analysis. Nadia's work has a doctrinal scope combined with strong methodological underpinnings while mantaining a victims' oriented perspective.

Research Interest

Nadia's current and earlier work has focused on the need to increase the methodological rigor of international law. Towards this aim, Nadia incorporates best practices through interdisciplinary methods that can provide tangible and quantifiable results and predictions for various international law phenomena. Nadia has introduced to international law the methodology of Social Network Analysis in an attempt to map, measure, and quantify the impact of actors and structures in international law. Previously, Nadia has used Social Network Analysis to map and quantify the effect of non-state actors on international law making.
