Biography

Suzan van der Aa PhD is an associate professor at the International Victimology Institute Tilburg (INTERVICT). She defended her doctoral thesis in 2010. In this thesis (Stalking in the Netherlands. Nature and prevalence of the problem and the effectiveness of anti-stalking measures) she combined empirical with legal research methods.

Research Interest

At INTERVICT she works as a senior researcher on topics such as victims rights, stalking, sexual violence, domestic violence and violence against women. She has lead various national and EU sponsored research projects on, inter alia, protection orders and victims of road traffic offences. She is currently leading a national project on property offences within marriages (WODC). In 2015 she was appointed as member of INTERVICT's management team and Director of Studies of the Master 'Victimology and Criminal Justice'.
