Biography
Han Hoogma is a researcher at the UNU Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) who is currently investigating the driving force behind about half a dozen open-innovation clusters in Europe. His argument is that working in the so-called triple-Helix structure, requires a new way of governance. All three parties — government, education and companies — are faced with a new way of intensive cooperation that breaks through the different cultures and requires other forms of leadership and cooperation (role view & responsibility). His research will focus on finding the success and failure factors, and should ultimately answer the question of how in Europe, the Netherlands and more specifically in South-Limburg the knowledge economy must be “organised”.
