Biography

Sjoerd Elias obtained his MSc in Clinical Epidemiology (2002) at the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences, and his PhD at Utrecht University (2003). He finished Medical School in 2005 and has clinical experience as a resident in radiology (Gelre Ziekenhuizen Apeldoorn, the Netherlands). A personal Dutch Cancer Society Research Fellowship (2009-2013) allowed him work as a visiting scientist at the Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (professor SS Gambhir), the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California San Francisco (professor NM Hylton), and the Department of Molecular Pathology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (professor LJ van't Veer). Since 2008, Sjoerd Elias is Assistant Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and he participates in the research programs Cancer and Methodology at the Julius Center.
