Biography
Ieva's general research focuses on exploring how organizations can pursue conflicting (paradoxical) goals and strategies simultaneously, with particular emphasis on the decisions related to business models. Her PhD project investigates how creative service firms use business model design to cope with the tensions associated with simultaneosly dealing with creative and commercial demands and ambitions. The project tackles four sub-questions: How do firms use business model design in order to deal with conflicting, paradoxical goals? What is the relationship between venture separation and business model design for ambidextrous performance? How organizational identity affects business model heterogeneity in pluralistic settings? What are the performance implications? How business model adaptation can support paradox management over time? Her study is a part of a research project developed in collaboration with Rotterdam School of Management and funded by NWO – “ The Battle of The Souls: Cultural and business orientations of creative firms and their effect on business models, growth and internationalization”. She works under the supervision of Prof. dr. Peter van Baalen and Prof. dr. Jan van den Ende. Ieva holds a master’s degree in Cultural Economics and Cultural Entrepreneurship (Erasmus University Rotterdam, 2012) and a bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Relations (Latvian Academy of Culture, 2010).
