Biography
I work as a lecturer with the interdiscipinary programme Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE college). My main teaching focus is on social science research methods and statistical analysis. Previously, I taught within the International Bachelor's Programme in Communication and Media at Erasmus University Rotterdam (IBCoM) - where I am also currently finishing a PhD dissertation on Western representations of suffering. Click here for an article on the optic in De Correspondent that I wrote together with Emy Koopman, and here for a short lecture I gave at the Universiteit van Nederland (both in Dutch). Within PPLE, I am principal lecturer for the courses Doing Research 1 in 2017/2018, and Introduction Statistical Analysis from 2018/2019 onwards. Outside of academia, I work in the international development sector. As a freelance researcher / evaluation consultant for different NGOs and for the World Bank, I have been involved in various projects in Tanzania, Senegal, Togo, Myanmar and Gaza. If you are interested, see below for my 2004 TEDx talk on data collection in developing countries.
