Biography

Martijn Frederik Nouwen is attached to the Amsterdam Center for Tax Law (ACTL) at the University of Amsterdam as well as EY. At the ACTL he conducts PhD research into harmful tax competition in the European Union (promoter: Prof. P.J. Wattel). He is the permanent author of the Dutch Journal of Tax Law (NTFR) as well as Highlights & Insights on European Taxation (H & I). He studied tax law (both Dutch and European and international tax law) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). In 2009, his graduation thesis, entitled 'Group interest box as an alternative to the abolished corporate financing regime', was awarded the thesis prize of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (NOB) and that of the Academy for Legislation of the Ministry of Justice.
