Biography
Sarah Johanna Eskens (LLM) is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Information Law (IViR). She studies the rights of media users (freedom of expression, privacy, data protection) when they search for and read news that is personalized to their inferred preferences and interests. Sarah’s research is part of the project “Profiling and targeting news readers – implications for the democratic role of the digital media, user rights and public information policy”, led by Natali Helberger. Within this project, Sarah closely collaborates with communication scientist to gain insight into user attitudes towards the personalization of news.
