Biography
After having studied European law at the University of Utrecht, Thomas Vandamme became an attorney at law with the firm of Stibbe (Amsterdam). In 1999 he switched from legal practice to a Ph.D. research on the validity of European directives and their (constitutional) relationship with national legislation (see below under 'Key Publications'). He defended his thesis called 'The Invalid Directive, the legal authority of a Union Act Requiring Domestic Lawmaking' in February 2005. Between 2003 and 2007 Thomas Vandamme worked as a lecturer in European Law at Utrecht University. Since June 2007 he is a lecturer in European Law at the University of Amsterdam.
Research Interest
As of 2007, Thomas A.J.A. Vandamme works as a lecturer / researcher European law at the law faculty of the University of Amsterdam. In 2005 he defended his thesis at the same university, titled The Invalid Directive, the Legal Authority of a Union Act Requiring Domestic Lawmaking (Europa Law Publishing, 2005; see below 'Key Publications')).
