Biography
Nelly Oudshoorn is a professor of Technology Dynamics and Health Care at the University of Twente. She has been visiting professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the Department of Science and Technology Studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, USA, and the Department of Technology and Social Change in Linkoping, Sweden. Currently, she is leader of the research program Users of Science and Technology of the department Science, Technology, and Policy Studies at the University of Twente. Since January 2005, she is chair of the board of the Dutch Graduate School Science, Technology and Modern Culture.
Research Interest
Her research interests and publications include the co-construction of technologies and users, with a particular focus on medical technologies and information and communication technologies. She is currently working on a project that investigates innovations in pacemakers and the making of hybrid identities. In addition, she is the coordinator of the NWO financed multi-disciplinary project Telecare at Home and senior researcher of the NWO-financed project Surveillance in Urban Nightscapes.
