Biography
I am a microbial ecologist interested in the factors affecting the growth and activity of plant beneficial bacteria. Plants depend for their health and growth on naturally-occuring probiotic microbes that provide nutrients, growth hormones and antibiotics to the plant. Such probiotics can be used to replace pesticides and reduce the use of fertilizers, forming a corner stone of sustainable agricultural practices. In order to fully exploit this potential, we need to understand better the life of soil bacteria. I merge in my research community ecology, evolutionary biology and phytopathology to understand and master beneficial plant-microbe interactions.
