Biography
Andrei Tirtan is a PhD candidate within the research program funded by the European Research Council entitled "Muslims in Interwar Europe" and led by Dr. Umar Ryad. Andrei will address the topic of "Political activism and Pan-Islamism. After graduating from the University of Bucharest, with a BA degree in Political Science- in English (2011), he continued his studies at the University of Leiden, where he pursued a Research Master in Area Studies focusing on the Middle East (2013). Topics of interest: Pan-Islamism, (Arab) Nationalism, Colonial History and Totalitarianism among others.
