Biography
Anouk Tersteeg is a Junior Researcher and PhD-candidate at the Faculty of Geosciences. Between July 2013 and March 2017, she worked on the European Union-funded research project DIVERCITIES under the supervision of Prof. Ronald van Kempen (until February 2016) and Dr. Gideon Bolt. With 14 case studies, mostly in Europe, DIVERCITIES examined how cities can benefit more from urban diversity in terms of social cohesion, social mobility, and entrepreneurship. Anouk carried out the Dutch case study within DIVERCITIES, which is on the city of Rotterdam. Until July 2017, under the supervision of Prof. dr. Pieter Hooimeijer (as of February 2016) and Dr. Gideon Bolt, Anouk will work on her PhD research, which focuses on the socio-spatial conditions under which living in diverse contexts can bridge social differences. In March and April 2017 Anouk is at work at the Danish Building Research Intitute of Aalborg University in Kopenhagen, where she is working with DIVERCITIES-researchers Hans Thor Andersen, Rikke Skovgaard Nielsen and Anne Winther Beckman.
