Biography
Bart Besamusca is professor of Middle Dutch text culture in an international perspective. He studied Dutch language and literature at Utrecht University, with subjects such as Old French and Codicology and Paleography (Leiden). In 1988 he graduated from Het Boec van Lancelote , a dissertation on the translation technique of Lanceloet 's poet . He was Academic Director of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences (1988-92). His research focuses on the narrative medieval literature. His research projects include the Bibliothek Mittelniederländischer Literatur, BIMILI (The Netherlands Letter of Letters and the Flemish Fund for the Letters, 2005 -...) The Dynamics of the Medieval Manuscript: Text Collections from a European Perspective (HERA, 2010-2014), Arthurian Fiction in Medieval Europe: Narratives and Manuscripts (CLARIN, 2011-2012), e-BNM + Linked Data on Middle Dutch Sources, Worldwide ( CLARIN, 2013-2014), The Changing Face of Medieval Dutch Narrative Literature in the Early Period of Print, 1477-c.1540 (FWO & NWO, 2013-2016).
