Biography
My interest lies in the intersection of politics, science and culture. The interdependence of these domains is mainly traceable and analyzed based on the history of social sciences and the humanities. Their role in public debate is clearly visible in the twentieth century and contemporary contributions to ideology and culture. For sociology, the justification of the modern welfare state remains highly relevant. For the humanities, this is the indication of the (multi-) cultural situation. A special form of this is the present historical culture, with branches like canon thinking and identity formation. Current problems of citizenship, loyalty and integration are quite different in social and humanities. The answers asked by those sciences are socially urgent and ideologically loaded. The nature and direction of this intellectual process can be elucidated by an analysis that seeks to combine the insights of science history and science philosophy.
